Hello. My name is Catfish. Thank you for visiting my page about Fender American Telecaster guitars. I hope this page helps clear up some of the mystery surrounding the differences between the Mexican Standard Telecaster, the American Standard Telecaster, the American Deluxe Telecaster and the 52' Vintage Reissue Tele and some of the more famous signature models. The Telecaster of coarse has been a staple of rock n roll since the Rolling Stones. It's got that certain "Twang" that only a Tele can give you and for that reason it continues to be one of the more popular guitars on the market today. It's light, comfortable and very versatile. I hope to add an American Standard Telecaster to my collection soon to compliment my Stratocaster and my Les Pauls. Here are the main differences between the models I mentioned earlier:

Fender American Standard Telecaster:

The Fender American Standard Tele is the bedrock of the Telecaster line and it is the model that all other Telecaster guitars are based on. The American Tele comes in one of two body woods which effect it's overall tone. The alder body will usually provide a thicker sound with more bass reponse and the swamp ash is a lighter wood which gives it a softer overall tonality. Different finishes are available for the Telecaster depending on the desired wood. Alder body Telecasters are available in 3-Color Sunburst, Black, Chrome Red, & Vintage White. Swamp ash body Tele guitars come in either 2 color sunburst or natural finish and both of those have maple necks. The alder body allows for either maple or rosewood. While they do vary slightly in tone, all the American Standard Telecasters are fun to play, light on your back, sound great and feel solid. The 2 single coil configuration is part of what gives the guitar its signature tone and the rolled fingerboard edges make it very easy to play. If your looking for something that has a little edge but can still make a beautiful clean tone, check out the American Standard Telecaster. It's survived this long for a reason.

Fender American Deluxe Telecaster:

This guitar takes the concept of the Telecaster to a whole new level. Updated hardware including a chrome plated bridge, it has Fender®/Schaller® deluxe staggered cast/sealed tuning machines as well as a pair of Samarium Cobalt Noiseless™ Tele pickups highlight the differences that make this guitar a "Deluxe". Additionally the guitar looks magnificent with its knurled chrome knobs, abalone dot position inlays, and a bound top. It's definately a professional's instrument and if you like Telecasters, this is a must play.

Fender American '52 Vintage Reissue Telecaster:

The Fender American '52 Vintage Reissue Telecaster is a great guitar that is very similar to the American Standard which is a testiment to how well the design concept has withstood the test of time. It's got 21 frets instead of 22 however, as well as an Original Vintage Style Tele Bridge with 3 brass saddles and “Ash Tray” bridge cover. The premium ash body is what really sets this guitar apart along with its old school butterscotch finish. This is as close as you can get to the real thing without selling the house. And for good measure, it comes with the Tweed Case. This is a SMOOTH ride and a great guitar.

Fender Mexican Standard Telecaster:

This is a great value instrument. It sounds good on its own accord and I have seen people do really impressive things by upgrading the pickups. The Mexican Standard Tele is a lot like the American Standard except that the craftsmenship is a little less than the made in the USA version, and the alder wood is typically not as choice. The hardware is what you would expect from this price range but it stays in tune reasonably well and has the same look and feel that make it so easy to play. This is a great intermediate guitar for people who's style is complimented by the twangy sound of the Tele or for second guitar to add some versatility to your collection.
