Hello. My name is Catfish. Welcome to my page about Gibson Les Paul Supreme electric guitars. The Supreme is pretty new to the scene having been introduced at the January 2003 NAMM show. I have had the opportunity to play one once at Guitar Trader and was very impressed.
The Gibson Les Paul Supreme is unlike any other Les Paul because it has the split block inlays which are really cool, a chambered body (more on that later) and the back has no face plate so you can see nothing but beautiful flamed wood back. It is a supremely attractive instrument (bad pun huh?). It also has an ebony fretboard which I love and it features the 490R/498T alnico humbucking pickup combination. And the gold hardware and fretwire is a nice touch. The body is unique in that it is chambered mahogany with a maple top and back. The sound is what you would expect the top of the line USA Les Paul to sound like. Chunky with plenty of sustain. I love Les Pauls and I love Ebony necks so this is definately on my wish list.
